How your interview data is handled

Last updated 30 August 2026

inctrl is a platform hiring teams use to run live, hands-on technical interviews in real environments. This notice explains, in plain language, what we record during an interview, why, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. It applies to candidates who take an interview and to the hiring teams who run them.

Before an interview begins, you are shown a consent notice and must affirmatively agree before your interviewer can admit you. If you do not consent, the session does not start.

Who is responsible for your data

The hiring organization that invited you is the data controller — they decide to interview you and how to use the result. inctrl operates the platform and processes the data on their behalf (a processor). Requests about your data can go to either the hiring organization or to us at privacy@inctrl.dev.

What we record

We do not record video or audio of you, and the interview environment is network-isolated by default.

Why we process it, and the legal basis

The recording exists so the hiring team can fairly evaluate your interview and share it with their hiring committee. The legal basis is your consent (given before the session) together with the hiring organization's legitimate interest in assessing candidates. You can withdraw consent by requesting deletion (below).

How long we keep it

Recordings are automatically deleted 12 months after the interview, or sooner on request. The hiring organization may also delete your data at any time. After deletion the recording is removed from storage and the associated personal details are erased.

Your rights

To exercise any of these, contact the hiring organization that interviewed you, or email us at privacy@inctrl.dev and we will action or forward your request.

Where your data lives & how it's protected

Interview environments run in isolated micro-virtual-machines with network egress denied by default. Recordings are stored encrypted in object storage. Access is limited to the hiring organization that ran your interview. We do not sell your data or use it to train models.

Changes to this notice

If this notice changes materially, we will update the date above. Continued use of the platform after a change means the updated notice applies.
